Itmina helps you find ayahs of the Quran for how your heart feels, and keeps a quiet companion for prayer, remembrance and reflection. This policy explains what Blocship (“we,” “us”) handles when you use the Itmina mobile app and its related services (the “App”). The short answer: almost nothing leaves your phone.
1. The short version
- There is no account. You never give us your name, email address or phone number.
- Your journal, moods, saved ayahs, tasbih counts and settings stay on your phone.
- Your location is used on your phone to work out prayer times and the Qibla, and is never sent to us.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell or share your data.
- Uninstalling the App, or clearing its data, removes everything.
2. What stays on your phone
The following are stored only in the App’s private storage on your device:
- Your name, if you choose to give one, so the App can greet you.
- Your journal: the moods you record and anything you write.
- Saved ayahs and tasbih counts, with their history.
- Your settings: language, translation, reciter, prayer calculation method, Asr school, Hijri date adjustment, reminder times and Azan choices.
- Your prayer location: approximate coordinates and a place name (see below).
We have no copy of any of this and cannot see it.
3. Location
If you allow it, the App asks your phone for your approximate location (not precise GPS) once, when you set up prayer times or tap your place name to update it. The prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your phone. Your coordinates are never sent to our server.
To show a place name such as “Karachi, Pakistan”, the App uses your phone’s built-in geocoder, which on most Android phones is provided by Google and may send the coordinates to Google to look up the name. The App does not track your location in the background.
4. What our server receives
To show Quran content, the App requests it from our server at itmina-api.blocship.io. These requests contain only what is needed to answer them: your chosen language, translation and reciter, the mood you picked, the ayah you opened, or today’s date for the ayah of the day. They carry no identifier for you or your device.
Like any web server, ours sees the IP address a request comes from and keeps basic logs (time, path and result) for security and troubleshooting. We do not use them to identify or profile anyone.
5. Third-party services
- Quran recitations are streamed directly from Quran.com’s audio servers (verses.quran.com and quranicaudio.com) when you press play. Those servers see your IP address and the recitation requested, under their own policies.
- Google, through your phone’s geocoder, as described in section 3.
- Quran text, translations and tafsir come from the Quran Foundation (Quran.com) through our server; your phone does not contact them for these.
6. Notifications & the Azan
The daily ayah, the Azan at prayer times, and reminders before a prayer’s time ends are all scheduled on your phone. No push service is used, and our server is never told when you pray or what you have turned on. When the daily ayah notification appears, the App fetches that day’s ayah from our server as described in section 4.
7. What we do not collect
- No account, name, email, phone number or contacts.
- No precise or background location.
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs.
- No payments: the App is free and has no purchases.
- No access to your camera, microphone, photos or files.
8. Device backup
If Android’s backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include the App’s data in your device backup (for example to your Google account), so it can be restored on a new phone. This is controlled by you in your phone’s settings, and we have no access to it.
9. Retention & deletion
- Everything the App stores is on your phone, and stays until you delete it. You can delete journal entries, saved ayahs and tasbih history inside the App.
- To delete everything, uninstall the App or clear its storage in your phone’s settings. Because we hold no account or personal data for you, there is nothing left on our side to delete.
- Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Since your data is held on your own phone, you can exercise most of these directly in the App or by uninstalling it. For anything else, contact us.
11. Children’s privacy
The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the App.
